Client Stories and Case Studies
Sonoma Leadership Systems has worked with a wide-range of clients. We specialize in helping organizations and individuals make The Leadership Challenge® both impactful and practical, so that it has a lasting effect in the lives of our clients.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation
CDCR has been undergoing a major organizational shift, from a punitive corrections system to a rehabilitative system. As a commitment to their core value of leadership and workforce excellence, they selected The Leadership Challenge® as an integral part of their supervisor training. Starting in 2006, Sonoma Leadership Systems trained over 1,900 first and second line supervisors. In 2008, CDCR again contracted with Sonoma Leadership Systems to train another 3,400 supervisors over the next two years.

California Public Utilities Commission
A few years ago, the State of California mandated sweeping changes to its vast network of websites. A new look and feel, designed to provide access to all members of the public, would need to be implemented within a one-year timeline and with a very limited budget. Multiple platforms and templates were in place, with each site managed by its own team of webmasters - and this project would have to be implemented with zero budget allocation. Chevron Management Institute
The Chevron Management Institute supports nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) from Angola, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Nigeria, Thailand and the United States. In 2008, Chevron Management Institute contracted with Sonoma Leadership Systems to deliver a complete leadership development process based on The Leadership Challenge® Workshop to twenty-eight executives of these non-profit organizations. Sonoma Leadership Systems will be delivering the program again in 2009

Edwards Air Force Base - Air Force Flight Test Center

Nevada Department of Transportation, NDOT
The Nevada Department of Transportation, established in 1917, has the vast responsibility of maintaining and improving over 5,400 miles of Nevada roads and a thousand bridges. They also integrate all methods of travel within the state. Their challenge was training future leaders who were recently advanced within the agency as well as those who had been in management positions for decades. Both groups needed a unified vision, common leadership practices and ability to speak the same “leadership language.” They are seeing the positive results of having trained 120 of their management staff in their Leadership Academy of which The Leadership Challenge® is an integral part. As well, over 250 have been trained in Leadership is Everyone’s Business®, another Sonoma Leadership Systems’ training offering. Click here to read or download the case study.

Tech Credit Union
At Technology Credit Union(Tech CU), like at all solid financial institutions, ROI is the predominant thread of the cultural fabric. That is why, when its Corporate Training Department wanted to incorporate The Leadership Challenge (TLC) into that fabric. Click here read or download the case study.

In 2008, Sonoma Leadership Systems delivered over 50 two-day The Leadership Challenge® Workshops around the world—throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East, training the top 1,000 leaders in the company. Eleven Kal Tire executives attended Sonoma Leadership Systems’ public workshop in 2008 as an introduction to a company-wide roll out in Maui, Hawaii January 2009. Over 300 store managers will experience The Leadership Challenge. The Leadership Challenge is being utilized across the organization as a shared leadership language.
